Oregon GWEP Offers Age-Friendly CHW and Dementia Skills Trainings

Oregon GWEP (the Oregon Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program) is offering age-friendly community health worker (CHW) and dementia skills for care teams modules, which are now live. 

Navigating Dementia: Essential Skills for Care Teams is a free, three-hour, self-paced interactive module to help health professionals working with patients with dementia. It is designed specifically for non-prescribing providers (e.g., nurses, social workers, OT/PT), and participants can earn up to three CME credits. Registration is required. Consolidated resources will be available at the end of each module. Find more information here. 

 How to Support Older Adults: A Training for Community Health Workers is a free, eight-hour, self-paced interactive module for CHW, peer support specialist, and peer wellness specialist team members to learn age-friendly care and communication skills for working with older clients. The course can be used to obtain up to eight CEs for recertification. Registration is required. Resources will be provided during the training. See the course flyer here
