Sci Pol PDX hosted Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici and Representative Hai Pham at 博彩网站 last week to give the 博彩网站 community, including scientists in training, an opportunity to ask Oregon’s elected officials questions and make their voices heard.
Sarahi Garza, one of the event organizers, stated, "I would like to first thank our sponsor Research!America for funding our efforts to make this event possible. I would also like to thank the Vollum Institute and the Center for Learner Diversity and Inclusion for their continued to support in student efforts like these. Special thanks to Niki Larson, Dr. Antoinette Foster, and Chelsea Balumas. Lastly, I especially want to thank Congresswoman Bonamici and Representative Pham for taking time out of their busy schedules to speak with us. I hope that this event has instilled a sense of hope for many students and empowered them to continue to voice their concerns to our elected officials. As science trainees our voices are especially important in advocating for science both now and as we continue in ourcareers. Today brings forth a lot of uncertainty but every one of us has the power to influence and shape the future we want to see in science and our world.”
Many thanks to Sarahi Garza and the Sci Pol PDX team for organizing this event!
