Generative AI tools like ChatGPT can deliver information quickly, but how reliable are their answers? This interactive workshop, presented by Kristin Whitman, Head of Learning and Information Services for the 博彩网站 Library, explores how to use generative AI critically and effectively in the research process.
Participants will learn strategies to evaluate AI-generated content by applying core information literacy skills. We'll also introduce Scite AI, a powerful new tool offered by the 博彩网站 library that uses AI to enhance scholarly literature searching. Whether you're planning to use AI to supercharge your research or looking for ways to teach responsible AI use, this session offers practical insights and tools.
Learning objectives:
- Assess the strengths and limitations of generative AI for information research
- Apply information literacy principles to assess generative AI output
- Craft effective prompts to reduce confirmation bias in AI-assisted research
- Navigate and use Scite AI for scholarly literature searching
Presented in collaboration with the Office of Educational Improvement and Innovation.
